はじめまして 西永拓郎です
ふだんは、約40年前に父がつくった西永工業を受け継ぎ、主に機械加工やレーザー加工、溶接などをする鉄工所の代表として働いています。鉄を使ったものづくりが大好きで、趣味が高じたアート作品を少しづつ時間をかけて制作してきました。
幼い頃から父の仕事を見てきて、いつもすぐそばに“鉄”の存在がありました。鉄の歴史は古く、建造物や生活用品に欠かせない、いわば縁の下の力持ちとして私たちの暮らしを支える存在です。地味で目立たない存在と思われがちですが、鉄は自由自在で、繊細な部分もたくさんあります。また、光や時間の経過によって様々な表情をみせるのも魅力のひとつです。“鉄がもっと表舞台に立って、輝く存在になれたら…”。そんな思いで日々作品づくりに取り組んでいます。鉄の魅力を作品を通してみなさまに少しでも伝えられたらうれしいです。
How do you do; my name is Takurou Nishinaga.
I am a representative of a metal workshop mainly for machine processing, laser processing, and welding, which I inherited from my father about 40 years ago. I do like working with metal and little by little my enthusiasm has led me to create iron art over time.
Metal is very familiar to me as I grew up watching my father work with metal as a boy. Metal production has a long history, but most people don’t know much about it. Metal is used in many spheres of daily life but many of us don’t even notice it. I like not only the malleability and fragility of the material but also the way it changes in different lighting or with the passage of time. I like to restore metal to its original splendor and hope that people will notice its beauty.
